SWITZERLAND - Švica

 ana03     tháng 11 19, 2012     No comments

In the most expensive Alpine region don't miss the charming towns: Luzern, Zurich, Bern, Lausanne, Geneve, Lugano and less known gems Murten, Gruyere, Brienz.

Cog mountain railways are one of the must:
the highest in Europe - Juhgfraujoch
the oldest in Europe – Rigi
the stepest in the world - Pilatus
the last one runing only with steam locomotives – Rothorn

Thera are also dozens of Natural gems:
Rhine waterfalls – be sure to take the boat ride and feel the power of the mighty river! Luzern lake is one of the most scenic, Geneve and Lugano have got the Meditteranian touch.
Easy to get astonishing view is from Jungfraujoch – also with the long glacier (3454 m), Schilthorn-Piz Gloria for 007 funs, Pilatus, Rigi, Montegenerosso.

Museums are fun to visit:
Olympic museum in Lausanne
HR Giger (autor of aliens from cult movie Alien) in Gruyere
Nestle (Cailler) chocolate museum is the sweetest, with unilimited degustation of chocolate in Broc
Meet the lovely st. bernardine dogs in their museum - Martigny
Local skansen Ballenberg (Brienz) is one of the best in the world – with organic food for sell, courses of traditional  crafts…
At leatst admire swiss watches in shops or museums and the same goes with swiss (army) knifes. Victorinox is the original (only left) swiss brend, with life time warranty for their products. Dont waste the time with copies!
Funs of Sherlock Holmes might like to see the waterfall Reichenbach, where detective died… In the nearby town Meringen is also a small museum.
Mystery park in Interlaken might unswer if we had visitors from space – mostly work of Erich von Daniken. Did Egiptians had electricity, Indians buld spaceships…
The only Hundertwassers house in Switzerland - Altenrhein

Hungry?
Cheese in all forms, gruyere and ementaler one of the most known.
Fondue is a must, with bread or  unpealed boiled potatos. If you dare after that, you could try dessert of double cream and white desserts meringue.
Rosti is another form of grated potato and served with dressing.
Cheapest options – menu in shoping malls (closed on Sundays!) and motorway restaurants (Marche).

Accommodation
Le Vieux Manoir www.vieuxmanoir.ch
One of the best country hotels in Europe waits for you at lake Murten. Each room is unique masterpeace, and the glass treehouse is another unforgetable option. Everything is just superb!

Grand hotel Giessbach www.giessbach.ch
One of the historical hotels with soul and unforgettable view to the Brienz lake and dozen of waterfalls. Water from their spring is available in cristal bottles. The corridors are an art gallery.

The cheapest options are youth hostels – plenty of them. One of the best is in Zurich, warmest in Locarno, family friendly in Brienz.

There are also plenty of camping grounds around – I had the warmest and informative wellcome near Interlaken, in village Ringgenberg  www.talacker.ch
