CZECH REPUBLIC - ČEŠKA

CZECH REPUBLIC – ČEŠKA
Small is beatifull - I've  found that about smaller and less known Czech towns. First nice surprise was just across the Austrian border - Slavonice. Town with picturesque old main square is worth a visit. And perhaps worth to spend a night in specially designed hotel Besidka. Old restored house is popular with artists and all good food lovers - not surprisingly, as the owners are actors...

Not far away lies another small gem - Telč. Well, this one is more known, but still far from the main tourist routes. The old part of the town is even on the Unesco heritage list. There is just everything yu might wish to find, from pubs, restaurants, exchange office to tourist info office... And no, you don't need a vignette for driving those roads, as highway is quite far away.

Česky Krumlov might be in the same category, but unfotunately it was discovered by hords of toursts decades ago... But it is still far from Prague! Beside obvious sights in the huge castle and around it is easy to spend hours just walking along small streets full of life. It is worth to peep across the river, where is an interesting photo musem Seidel, and near by Cukrarna is a must for sweets lovers.
I stayed in the old part in hotel U Maleho Vitka . Really affordable hotel for all who love to stay in an old, carefully renovated house. Nice breakfast as well. River rafting also seems attractive and popular.

Castle or chateau Jemnište looks like from a fairy tale from the first sight. And I felt like beeing in a fairy tale as I was in castle garden all alone. That happens during the week out of the main season, when there are not much visitors. Castle could be visited on a tour or even better, You can sleep in one of 3 apartments - suites. It is a memorable stay with all that old furniture, paintings.. around.. And try some sweets in the castle cafe Custoza where they sell so many tempting and also delicious sweets. Most of them also by recipies of countess, and when she has got time, she made them by herself!. Wandering around small garden in front of the castle is nice, but for a real peace, you should go to the main park behind the building. Guests get the keys of the garden doors. Large park is partly like a botanical garden  and there is also a small zoo with lamas, kangaroos, parrots, ducks, coaties...

MORAVIA - northeastern part is full of small but interesting towns. Lots of them have got well preserved renesaince towns squers. One of the nicest is Frydek-Mistek. Actually, two towns joined during last century...

Koprivnice is famoust for the Tatra museum – the third oldest car manufactor in Europe! That one would be interesting even today.

For outdoor lovers the Beskydy mountains are just perfect. Lots of trails, ski runs etc. One should visit at least Pustevny (1018m). For the nice view and most of all fariytale wooden houses more then 100 years old! In one of them is a restaurant and in nearby a hotel.

Afrika hotel-Interesting boutique hotel in Frydek, is just a few steps from the old town. The nonpromising exterior but the visit worth interior with african colours, paintings, sculptures and music. Cosy and comfortable rooms, small but nice restaurant. http://www.hotel-afrika.cz/
