VOJVODINA

Vojvodina is the northern province of Serbia. Applies to visit it, as long as the prices are low and the locals traditionally friendly. The communication will be no problem if you speak English, Hungarian or any of the Yugoslav languages.

I crossed the border near Apatin, which is one of the more pleasant places by the Danube river, which has got regulated port with a marina. The old town center boasts some attractive houses and churches. In the town hall is still possible to admire the wall paintings from socialist times.
At the edge of Apatin I recommend to stay in one of the most pleasant campgrounds in Vojvodina -  camp Budžak, also suitable for mobile homes.

The web site is very informative about the area.

Camp location is excellent as it is arranged only a few hundred meters away from the Danube  and Nature Reserve Upper Transdanubia, which is a real paradise for nature lovers, hunters and fishermen. The landscape provides a safe haven for more than two hundred species of birds, including the black stork and white-tailed eagles. Among the most powerful inhabitants are wild boars and red deer. Especially the latter are sought after trophy hunters from all over Europe. Their matrimonial calls could be heared at the end of the summer even at the campgrounds! Hunting along the Danube was popular among the aristocracy and political elite. In the protected area there is still the former Tito's hunting lodge. In recent years, a national park is becoming increasingly popular for lovers of photography.
Nature Park is located along the little road traffic, which is part of the more than a thousand kilometers of cycle tracks along the Danube. Here is a run along the river embankment defense. The surrounding area is ideal for cycling, because the roads are straight and without slope and heavy traffic. Nice ride is to the nearby Banja spa Junaković or on the other side to the village Bački Monoštor. Here you could visit (by arrangement) the old ethnographic house Kuveljić. Arrange to taste the local delicacies – stew - paprikaš, dry salami and poppy sweets - štrudl. Of course, there is no shortage of homemade spirits, wine and local beer -apatinsko pivo.

Not far away lies Sombor, one of the greenest cities in Europe. Enlivened by numerous parks and streets accompanied by luxurious avenues. They planted more than 20,000 trees, of which nearly half of Common hackberry. Their yellow edible small fruits ripe in September. Sometimes are used as a spice or desserts. The old town center is characterized by a number of baroque buildings, including a museum, a theater and several churches. The county held the largest oil painting on canvas in Serbia - seven times four meters, from 19th century, which immortalize historic battle between the Austrian army and the Turks at Senta. The most lively part is the market. There it is possible to buy the spicy red pepper, which is an indispensable addition to many traditional dishes, among which is the most famous fish stew - paprikaš.

The biggest cities in Vojvodina are characterized by shopping malls, like in all easternmost parts of Europe. Of course, the capital Novi Sad is no exception. The town on both sides of the Danube River is connected by new bridges, replacing destroyed during NATO bombardment at the turn of the millennium. In the exemplary renovated old town center shops invite renowned foreign brands, and many restaurants and bars. Climb the Petrovaradin fortress, which affords beautiful views.
